This formal exploration looked at the design of a subterranean dwelling through carved spaces and intersecting surfaces.
I formed an interest in exploring the relationship between a roofed surface to the underground carved space resulting beneath it. The design is inspired by cones that as a collection of different sizes, suggest different spatial experiences. Much of the design was spent finding a balance between hierarchies in the roof form as well as opening up natural apertures where these cones may intersect. The ground level was a resultant carve in response to the roof form.
