Rooted into its environment, Shrine temporarily was setup at the Rhode Island School of Design for a student show. Taking influence from visual aspects of Japanese Shinto culture, Shrine explores those ideas of introspection as a means to reach a personal sense of fulfilment in life. The spirit of the piece is in its centralizing structure forming a core shrouded in a dense collection of paper knots. The situational aspect of this piece is one of its greatest strengths, belonging to the environment the viewer finds themselfs apart of.
